DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Welcome!
After months of work, A/P/A Institute's new online site is up and running! (Thanks to Cindy Yang, our fantabulous webmaster.) This site makes the Institute's work much more available.
We are about the movements of peoples, goods, ideas, imaginations across the many Asias, the many Pacifics, and the many Americas — west, east, south, north swirling, intermingled, and confounded.
Furthering open access is critical to building an open global cultural commons. Our airwaves are filled with lots of crap and filler. We all desperately want alternative insights, more diverse voices, and basic, reliable information. And we're particularly mindful of the forgotten, the ignored, and spaces beneath and behind the obvious and the promotional.
As the realities of the world shift towards Pacific worlds and the many interstices of Asia, A/P/A Institute seeks to keep raising questions and bringing in people, films, and exhibits with important (but rarely heard) passions and perspectives.
